UNDERSTANDING THE IMAGE OF GOD AND LIKENESS AFTER GOD

DECLARING THE WORD OF TRUTH…

UNDERSTANDING THE IMAGE OF GOD AND WALKING IN THE IMAGE AND LIKENESS AFTER GOD AS A TRUE CHRISTIAN BELIEVER OR A DISCIPLE OF JESUS CHRIST.

Greetings from Asher Namanya the Prisoner of Jesus Christ our Lord to you all who are called and elected before the creation of the world by the grace of Our God the father through Our Lord Jesus Christ , peace be with you forever Amen.

I thank God for this message have been given this subject by the Holy Spirit , I had to obey and do God’s will and write on the subject of the image and Likeness after God in which he created human and we are supposed to be walking in God’s image and likeness right away from the creation of the world. Therefore let’s look at the subject in details; whether we are still walking in the image of God and also why we have failed to walk in God’s Image.

There’s a problem that we have not identified about being created in the image and likeness of God and if we don’t understand this subject we shall fail in salvation through Jesus Christ and we shall continue to live in a lost life and miss out eternal life which was given to us through Faith in Christ Jesus.

Before we look at the subject of being created in the likeness of God we need to define the Likeness and the Image mean,

Some people have not understood what the likeness God is, even some of us may think may be God is looking like us in the physical stature, or may resembles us physically.

The question is why did God say Let us create a man in our own Image and our own likeness and what does he man by being created in his Image?

Let’s first bring out the scriptures that confirm that above subject and we should not take this subject of God’s Image as something light or just a saying, As True Christian Believers we must understand all this for the sake of our walking and dwelling in Salvation through Faith in Christ Jesus, any way does it matter to be in the Likeness of God? My answer would be much more of Yes because it’s a very important to be in the Likeness and the Image of God. First let’s see the scripture.

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them. Genesis1; 26-27.

When looking closely at the above scripture, God created both Male and female in his own Image, but does it mean he resembles us in looks or in physical stature?

To understand this meaning in our image or after our likeness we need to look at their meaning then we will be able to know what it means to be in the likeness and being in the image of God and what does it take to live in the image of God and we need to do stay in the likeness of God.

Definition of an Image;

  1. A reproduction or imitation of the form of a person or thing;
  2. A representation of the external form of a person or thing in art

Definition of Likeness;

  1. The fact or quality of being alike; resemblance.
  2. A picture of a person.

We have seen the definitions of the Image and likeness without adding of God.

Now to know the full meaning of Image of God and likeness after God we need to know who God is, that is the nature of God in our order to understand his Image then we shall how we are supposed to be in our daily life, how walk in the imitation of God, walk in his Likeness and also his own Image. Does it mean that we often don’t walk in the Image of God? Yes we do and we shall know why it is so and we need to continually walk in the Image of God. With help of the scriptures we shall look at how Moses described God when the Israelites had rebelled against and he stood in the hole to intercede for them.

The Lord is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but he will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, to the third and the fourth generation.’ Please pardon the iniquity of this people, according to the greatness of your steadfast love, just as you have forgiven this people, from Egypt until now.”Numbers14; 18-19. This is how also Moses knew of the Lord God about his nature and his likeness;

Slow at Anger meaning he is patient, he has eternal Love, Forgiving, that’s the nature of God according to Moses. But let’s continue to know more about the nature and image of God in the scriptures.

Therefore you gave them into the hand of the peoples of the lands. Nevertheless, in your great mercies you did not make an end of them or forsake them, for you are a gracious and merciful God.

“Now, therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who keeps covenant and steadfast love, let not all the hardship seem little to you that has come upon us, upon our kings, our princes, our priests, our prophets, our fathers, and all your people, since the time of the kings of Assyria until this day. Yet you have been righteous in all that has come upon us, for you have dealt faithfully and we have acted wickedly. Nehemiah9; 31.33.

We also see the captives who had come from the captivity in the city of Babylonia also gave their description for God’s nature in their prayer.

They said in summary God is great, Mighty, awesome, Faithful, Loving, righteous, Merciful, gracious God. We are still looking the Image of God or call it his nature and his personality and let’s continue to dig more from the scriptures then we can be able to understand why we must conform to his image and what we need to continue walking in his image.

For the word of the Lord is upright, and all his work is done in faithfulness.
He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord.

By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host.
He gathers the waters of the sea as a heap; he puts the deeps in storehouses.

Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him!
For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm. Psalsm33; 4-9.

The psalmist sees the Nature of God in another way as well,

He says, His word is Upright, His work are done perfectly meaning he is Perfect, and his just in whatever he does.

Let’s see more of the scriptures in order to understand how we should move in God’s Image and Likeness.

The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding he established the heavens;
by his knowledge the deeps broke open, and the clouds drop down the dew. Proverbs3; 19-20

Proverbs says that God is wise, understanding and his Knowledge and through all that he was able to establish what he has created. This also gives more of understanding the Image of God.

Let’s see what Isaiah says in the scripture when God himself is speaking about his Nature and Character;

Bring out the people who are blind, yet have eyes,
who are deaf, yet have ears! All the nations gather together, and the peoples assemble.
Who among them can declare this, and show us the former things?
Let them bring their witnesses to prove them right, and let them hear and say, It is true.

“You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “and my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor there any after me, I am the Lord, and besides me there is no savior.I declared and saved and proclaimed, when there was no strange god among you; and you are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “and I am God. Isaiah43; 8-12.

In the above scripture God is showing or telling that he is all powerful and he can do anything he wants because he has all the power to do so, there is no savior beside him.

Now that is in short the Nature of God Iam going to summarize his personality and his Image so that we may learn how to live in the image of God, and how can we be transformed in God’s Image;

The Image of God or the Nature of God.

God is all powerful, eternal, righteous, Wise, understanding, compassionate, Kind, loving, Faithful, Glorious, Spiritual, Knowledgeable, Just, Full of Joy, Holy, mighty, awesome, amazing, perfect, Patient, forgiving, and Merciful.

When we look at the image of God and his nature it’s quite amazing and when he said “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.” That is what God meant he created human in his likeness and therefore he expects us to manifest or imitate what he is and he wants us to express our likeness of God by the way we do things and the way we behave. In fact being created of in God’s image is that we should be like him.

In the beginning before the fall of Man, Adam and Eve were walking in the image of God, because they were faithful to God, Loving, Patient, and were righteous because they were doing right in the eyes of God since the Image of God was still in them. Now this brings us a question that we can’t have God’s image now?

When Adam and Eve sinned they moved away from the image of God, of being righteous and became sinners and that also brought another image of Satan in them because he was a Sinner, we saw the definition of Image and Likeness only let’s look at the Image of God definition

A reproduction or imitation of the form of God in deeds and behavior, thus being proceeding from inside and be reflected in external form of a person.

God loved us and he saw we were moving away a lot from his likeness by sinning and sinning brings other images of the devil and evil spirits which are not the likeness of God, and these are; Lack of patience, lack of love, unforgiveness, unfaithfulness, merciless, lack of joy, divisionism, filthiness, pride, lack of self-control, sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy drunkenness, orgies. Whenever you are in such acts above you are not walking in the likeness of God.

Somebody might ask what I should do to walk in the Likeness of God.

“For God so loved the world,that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John3; 16. Now this is how God loved the world by giving us his son that we may be saved and have eternal life and by thus accepting Jesus Christ we shall be walking in the Likeness of God and we shall look at the scriptures how is it possible. But before Jesus Christ came this is what God talked about him;

The Righteous Reign of the Branch

There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse, and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit. And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.
And his delight shall be in the fear of the Lord. He shall not judge by what his eyes see, or decide disputes by what his ears hear, but with righteousness he shall judge the poor,
and decide with equity for the meek of the earth; and he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall kill the wicked. Righteousness shall be the belt of his waist, and faithfulness the belt of his loins.

When you look closely at the scripture, Jesus Christ was having the Seven Spirits of God and I other words, he had all the likeness of God upon himself and that shows he is the person who we have come to believe in and if Christ Jesus in us then we must transform into the image and likeness of the Lord God, Jesus Christ was God fearing and he had the Spirit of God who transforms us, therefore we need to have all the seven Spirits of God so that we can continue walking in the Image of God. When we do what God wants and do it right then he is pleased with us therefore in deeds we are in his likeness, when we promise and fulfill then we are walking in the likeness of God, and when we are Just, gracious, Kind and forgiving, patient then we shall be walking in the likeness of God, but all this is a process and they are Holy Spirit fruits and gifts.

Let confirm what Jesus Christ does in our lives after receiving him;

From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2n corrinthians5; 16-20. As you can see that Jesus Christ reconciles us back to God’s image by him being our righteousness, God saw would not manage after the Fall and he had to bring the Messiah Jesus Christ our Lord to redeem us and bring us back in his own image and this happens with Help of the Holy Spirit transformation, and here is the scripture confirming it;

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit. Now the scripture is very clear that where is the Spirit of God there is freedom and God is Spirit therefore when you are in the right church of God where he dwells you are free to grow spiritually and you will be transformed into the image of God from Glory to Glory so this where we need to put the emphasis, when you look at the Christian believers today who say have accepted and received Jesus Christ as Lord and savior, they are not transformed instead they have become more worse no change in Spiritual understanding and are captives of sin and always in flesh desires or living a sinful nature life which is wrong for a True Christian who has received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior you are supposed to be transformed into the likeness of God move in his Image in deeds and behavior.

This shows that if you are not transformed in the likeness of Jesus Christ or God then it means you have received a false Spirit which called the Spirit of error in 1john4;1, and here are the scriptures which defines the children of God and of the devil.

Test the Spirits

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. 1john4; 1.

So if you see that you are not being transformed in the life of salvation into the likeness of God then know just you received a wrong Spirit from the place where you got saved from, people can be Christians believers or followers of Jesus Christ for more than 20 years or even 30 years and still are not walking in the likeness of God, the person who walks in the image of God is being transformed by the Holy Spirit until he has pertained the fruits or produced the fruits of the Holy Spirit and thus all the Seven Spirits of God are working in him like Our Lord Jesus Christ, he was walking in the likeness of God,

To walk in the likeness of God takes a step in forsaking your life and this happens when you have got the Spirit of God who convicts you and teaches you about what God wants, but the problem people want continue doing their own life even when they get saved, now salvation is not based on how many years you have spent in salvation rather it should be based on the spiritual transformation and spiritual growth and the fruits you are producing out of yourself. Most people always think it depends on the numbers of years spent in salvation and they start boasting around by despising others who are new converts in Christ Jesus but when you look closely at those people who are claiming to be Born Agains for years, the life they live is the same when they were still sinning .

Let me tell you friend that it’s not the number of years spent in the salvation, you might spend many years in salvation and you are not truth or you just doing contrary to the word of God, so be careful about the way you behave, the way you express yourself and the way you do things because a true and Faithful servant of God is seen by the fruits of the Holy Spirit produced out of him or her not the number of years spent in salvation.

But this will cost you lose your sinful nature life and accept the life Jesus Christ wants for you, not what you want and when you accept to be follower it means you are willing what Jesus Christ wants you to be so that you may walk and reflect the image of God and bring glory to God in everything you do.

Being saved is not just by saying that’s the bible says by their fruits you shall know them and they either belong to me or they belong to the devil and this how we know you either belong to the devil or to Jesus Christ, the bible is very clear,;

Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.

Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister. 1John3; 4-10. And also the bible says that;

I am writing these things to you about those who are trying to lead you astray. 27As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.

God’s Children and Sin

And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming. If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who does what is right has been born of him. 1john2; 27-29.

Now it’s evident from the above scripture you don’t need any one to teach you but let the Spirit of God teach you in accordance with the anointing you received from the Creation of the World. So you don’t need bible colleges and so forth, those people teach in human flesh and that’s why many Christians have remained the way they are when they have received Jesus Christ as their Lord and savior even after 30 years and more years they are the same.

In conclusion focus on God the Father and Our Jesus Christ through his Holy Spirit you will be transformed into his likeness if you find a right place of worship where his Holy Spirit and he will guide you, teach you, counsel you and also protect you to keep the anointing enable to do God’s will.

Anyway, we do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. However, as it is written:

“What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived “the things God has prepared for those who love him—these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.

This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words. The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments. 1 corrinthians2; 6; 15.

DECLARING THE WORD OF TRUTH…

UNDERSTANDING THE IMAGE OF GOD AND WALKING IN THE IMAGE AND LIKENESS AFTER GOD AS A TRUE CHRISTIAN BELIEVER OR A DISCIPLE OF JESUS CHRIST.

Greetings from Asher Namanya a Prisoner of Jesus Christ our Lord to you all who are called and elected before the creation of the world by the grace of Our God the father through Our Lord Jesus Christ , peace be with you forever Amen.

So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.

Definition of an Image;

  1. A reproduction or imitation of the form of a person or thing;
  2. A representation of the external form of a person or thing in art

Definition of Likeness;

The Lord is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but he will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, to the third and the fourth generation.’ Please pardon the iniquity of this people, according to the greatness of your steadfast love, just as you have forgiven this people, from Egypt until now.”Numbers14; 18-19. This is how also Moses knew of the Lord God about his nature and his likeness;

The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding he established the heavens;
by his knowledge the deeps broke open, and the clouds drop down the dew. Proverbs3; 19-20

Proverbs says that God is wise, understanding and his Knowledge and through all that he was able to establish what he has created. This also gives more of understanding the Image of God.

Let’s see what Isaiah says in the scripture when God himself is speaking about his Nature and Character;

Now that is in short the Nature of God Iam going to summarize his personality and his Image so that we may learn how to live in the image of God, and how can we be transformed in God’s Image;

“For God so loved the world,that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John3; 16. Now this is how God loved the world by giving us his son that we may be saved and have eternal life and by thus accepting Jesus Christ we shall be walking in the Likeness of God and we shall look at the scriptures how is it possible. But before Jesus Christ came this is what God talked about him;

Let confirm what Jesus Christ does in our lives after receiving him;

From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2n corrinthians5; 16-20. As you can see that Jesus Christ reconciles us back to God’s image by him being our righteousness, God saw would not manage after the Fall and he had to bring the Messiah Jesus Christ our Lord to redeem us and bring us back in his own image and this happens with Help of the Holy Spirit transformation, and here is the scripture confirming it;

Being saved is not just by saying that’s the bible says by their fruits you shall know them and they either belong to me or they belong to the devil and this how we know you either belong to the devil or to Jesus Christ, the bible is very clear,;

Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.

Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister. 1John3; 4-10. And also the bible says that;

So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.

Definition of an Image;

  1. A reproduction or imitation of the form of a person or thing;
  2. A representation of the external form of a person or thing in art

Definition of Likeness;

The Lord is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but he will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, to the third and the fourth generation.’ Please pardon the iniquity of this people, according to the greatness of your steadfast love, just as you have forgiven this people, from Egypt until now.”Numbers14; 18-19. This is how also Moses knew of the Lord God about his nature and his likeness;

The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding he established the heavens;
by his knowledge the deeps broke open, and the clouds drop down the dew. Proverbs3; 19-20

Proverbs says that God is wise, understanding and his Knowledge and through all that he was able to establish what he has created. This also gives more of understanding the Image of God.

Let’s see what Isaiah says in the scripture when God himself is speaking about his Nature and Character;

Now that is in short the Nature of God Iam going to summarize his personality and his Image so that we may learn how to live in the image of God, and how can we be transformed in God’s Image;

“For God so loved the world,that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John3; 16. Now this is how God loved the world by giving us his son that we may be saved and have eternal life and by thus accepting Jesus Christ we shall be walking in the Likeness of God and we shall look at the scriptures how is it possible. But before Jesus Christ came this is what God talked about him;

Let confirm what Jesus Christ does in our lives after receiving him;

From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2n corrinthians5; 16-20. As you can see that Jesus Christ reconciles us back to God’s image by him being our righteousness, God saw would not manage after the Fall and he had to bring the Messiah Jesus Christ our Lord to redeem us and bring us back in his own image and this happens with Help of the Holy Spirit transformation, and here is the scripture confirming it;

God’s Children and Sin

And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming. If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who does what is right has been born of him. 1john2; 27-29.
