THE TRUE FAITH IN CHRIST JESUS…

“For we live by faith, not by sight. We are confident, then, and would prefer to be away from this body and to live with the Lord. 2corrinthians5; 7-8…”

The bible tells us to have faith in Jesus Christ and believe in Jesus as the savior and Lord but recently I discovered that most Christians have misguided faith in Jesus and they are only filled with desire and expectation which is very wrong and in most cases it leads to disappointment after people had expected may be God would answer them through Christ Jesus and after they fall into judging God for disappoiting them yet the underlying idea behind their disappointment is mis-guided Faith

Today I will tackle the subject of Faith in Christ so that people may differentiate between having Faith and having expectation to avoid disappointments. Most Christians today have baseless Faith and this has hindered their change in Christ and understanding the working of God and their walk in salvation , of course someone may think has faith yet in reality it’s not the case. I will explain Having Faith in details according to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Therefore Faith is not a desire or an expectation according to the Holy Scriptures

Faith is the substance of the things that we hope for that cannot be seen with our physical eyes. In other words Faith is the evidence or proof of things that we cannot see. Hebrews11; 1-3. Most Christians normally mistake the desire inside them and mistake it to be faith after a long period of time of waiting the desire gets out and these Christians give up hoping from God because of the desire that was in them and they will be disappointed. In most cases the most Christians who are seeking for miracles that are fast have desire not Faith in Christ, a person who has faith has evidence in his or her heart that God will work for her or him any period or appointed time knowing that God is Faithful.

The bible tells us like in this the scriptures;

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. 2corrinthians4; 16-18.

Now we are advised to fix the eyes on things that are not seen because they are permanent, why do you think we should fix our eyes on things that are unseen its because we see them by Faith, this is being connected to the spiritual dimension of the Holy Spirit, if we live by Faith then we shall not mind about what happens to our mortal bodies knowing that we are renewed day by day and that is the evidence we have in the heart so call that Faith because things that are not seen with physical can be viewed only having Faith, we believe in our hearts that there is another heavenly place that we shall live after our earthly life and this can be taken by having Faith so. In this we do not care what happens to us to our daily lives whether we sleep hungry or not because we have Faith that we shall reach a safe place where we will have peace for eternity. What then? Shall we say we shall only sit and wait because we have faith? Of course not, Faith is seen in two parts.

Faith has two part folds, that is

It begins with a belief in the heart and then

An action will follow and that is what we call Faith, in this case Faith is certainty deep in our being that God will fulfill what he has promised. So we don’t mind about the troubles and obstacles we face before our faces and our lives in existence.

Therefore Faith is certainty in the heart but it will require some actions to make it real, in other words it will need a work to make to reveal its certainty. For example Having Faith is believing in the heart and confession or a good work or an action will be justify the Faith you have in Jesus Christ.

Taking example of our patriarchs in the bible we shall learn Faith more so that we live with that True Faith that God wants not our mis-guided Faith.

By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. Hebrews11; 3. Now the confidence we have in the heart is Faith that God made this visible world out of invisible world that is the Spiritual world and that means to access the invisible world you must believe in God and then action you will make is accept his son Jesus Christ as Lord and savior so that you will be connected to the invisible world. In most cases many Christians want to deceive they have Faith in God but their actions deny them that they do not have Faith.

By faith Abel brought God a better offering than Cain did. By faith he was commended as righteous, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead. Hebrews11;4, By Faith we see Abel being approved by God, this was justified by his action or the deed that he did before God, Abel understood that if I offer a better sacrifice I would appreciate the blessing of God that was upon me, and in that he believed that even if he offered the best sacrifice God would increase him the more and therefore Abel was sure God was a rewarder of all things and he would not offer in vain before God, that action or the sacrifice he offered before justified his Faith in the heart, in other words what he did justified that he had in the heart towards God. By the sacrifice of Abel we learn that to have Faith is giving your whole heart towards God that he will protect the heart without disappointment and this will be accompanied by our godly action that will prove we have trusted in God’s instructions and his teachings and commandments. Sacrifice was a godly action made by Abel towards God and this justified his Faith towards God.

By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith. Hebrews11; 7. When you look at Noah he was also approved by God for his Faith towards God , Noah when warned about things not yet seen and that was the destroying the first world, Noah believed God and made an ark, now that was total obedience from Noah towards God, because it showed he believed God’s promise and it demonstrated that God is Not a liar when says something he is able to do it and that pleased God, what was the Faith of Noah?

The Faith of Noah was the obedience he took to build an ark that he would survive the first world demolition and so Noah did not doubt God. The action of making an ark and the sacrifice of time Noah took to make an ark justified his Faith towards God even though he did not wait to first demolition to believe God. The other people who saw Noah building an ark were Faithless and they did not believe and eventually they were wiped out with great rain. So what does this mean, that Faith is obedience towards doing what God has commanded us to do and if we do it with Love then our actions of obedience towards God will justify our Faith in Jesus Christ.

By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. By faith he made his home in the Promised Land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God. Hebrews11; 8-10,

By Faith Abraham obeyed God and left his home country to another place he did not know about, and this made him the Father of all believers because, he believed if God has called me then he will take care of me and his action was obedience and he went to a foreign land even though he had no house there but he moved around the foreign country in his tents knowing that there is an eternal inheritance therefore Abraham did not mind about what he was going through and what troubled him but obeyed the command of the Lord and later the Israelites came and settled in the promised Land. This action of Abraham justified his Faith towards God and it was credited to him as righteousness before God, because was patient enough and never complained about the promised land but he was not selfish, therefore Faith towards God is being Patient, the action is being patient and know that God will do what he has promised. Abraham never got tired waiting upon God’s promises but by Faith he went to Egypt to work as a slave that he knew he would come back to Canaan, and by Faith he sent his servant to his Relatives house to get his son a wife knowing that he would inherit the land God has promised by Faith he prepared for his son and all those deeds he made were justifying his Faith towards God that his word works.

So then what should I say, Faith is certainty in the heart and the action that one does justifies his Faith towards God through Christ Jesus,

Here is an example of Faith in the scriptures that every Christian should take and change attitude and behavior towards God.

The Faith of the Centurion

When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. “Lord,” he said, “my servant lies at home paralyzed, suffering terribly.”

Jesus said to him, “Shall I come and heal him?”

The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith. I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will take their places at the feast with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. But the subjects of the kingdom will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! Let it be done just as you believed it would.” And his servant was healed at that moment. Mathew8; 5-13

The Centurion surprised Jesus Christ for his great Faith, the centurion was a gentile of course during the times of Jesus and initially the Israelites believed not on Jesus and many were always asking for signs and miracles in Israel for Jesus Christ to demonstrate that he was the son of the Living God, but this centurion did not ask for any sign and never did he look for a miracle to believe on Jesus like the Jews were doing that and those who were following him, so the Great mystery underlying Great of Faith of the centurion is that he understood the authority of God through Christ Jesus and he knew if Jesus Christ came from God then his word is enough and that had never happened in Israel because Jesus Christ had walked with disciples but they would first see his miracles and then believe. This means that Faith is understanding the authority of Jesus Christ and his word, that his word does not lie it will fulfill what is ever is meant to do, so then the centurion was Certain in his heart that his servant would be fine upon a word of Jesus Christ and he did not need Jesus Christ to come to him, and the centurion was also patient with Jesus Christ until he spoke to him that Go let it be done just as you believed, when you are waiting for someone with authority you do not need to get worried because you are confident that they will do whatever they promised because they have capacity.

But this is not so with Christians today because their faith is baseless and mis guided, they want to first see Jesus Christ visiting their places then they believe in him, they want to first see miracles happening in their lives and then they believe on Jesus Christ, so then they don’t read his word and whatever he says that out of obedience they shall receive whatever they need and that has turned out to take God as a liar on his word.

Dear brethren, to have Faith in Christ is being obedient to his commands, instructions and directions, corrections, his law and that action will justify your Faith towards God, Obedience is doing therefore Faith must be with good deeds that will justify your Faith in God.

God has put his constitution the Bible and it has his directions and commands that we must follow as Christians meaning we have to be the doer of the word to justify our Faith in God. You cannot say you have Faith in God and the fail to believe in Jesus Christ his son, that would be mis-guided Faith and baseless, the action taken to believe in Christ is to be born Again by confessing Christ Jesus as Lord and savior then it would show that you believe in God, because by doing that you would say that we were alienated from the Kingdom of God before because of sin and that by confessing Christ Jesus as the savior of our lives then it would mean we again being restored back to the Kingdom of God through Christ because the sin would be dead because of Christ in us, that will be taken by Faith In Christ.

You cannot say you have Faith in Christ and your attitude towards his word of correction is negative and taken as a burden that would be misguided Faith and that would mean you do not trust in Jesus Christ set standard of living hence no Faith, Having FAITH in someone is not just looking at them and you continue with your unbent attitude.

To have Faith in Christ to walk towards repentance and Repentance is change, if then there is change there will be joy because your spirit is changed, the soul, the mind and you obey any commandment of the Lord Jesus Christ, reading the word of God and do what it says its Faith in Christ because it would reveal your obedience towards God’s word. Many Christians today say they have Faith in Christ but they are doing contrary to the word of God. Many are selfish, many do not repent,

And if you went to the churches today you would think it’s a club disco especially, women in pants, men with dreads, women with funny plaited hair, and all these actions reveals only disobedience towards God and un guided Faith, upon correcting them they say its Fashion and that means their Faith is in Fashion not God or Jesus Christ. Most of these things the bible does not permit them, if you can’t obey God’s word then its mis-guided Faith and your Faith is in another person but not God but even baseless

The True Faith towards God through Christ Jesus is composed of obedience of his word, understanding his authority, your attitude, repentant heart upon conviction of the Holy Spirit, your godly actions and behavior. The All Faithful patriarchs were approved by God for their Faith they had in him and this was through their obedience towards God’s commands,

Faith is a gift from God, therefore if you want more then you have ask for it from God and the Holy Spirit will increase your Faith, It is by Grace we obtain this Faith.

What does James say towards Faith?

What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”

Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.

You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is uselessd ? Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,”e and he was called God’s friend. You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone. James2;14-25.

From the explanation of Faith by James through Holy Spirit guidance, Faith is always justified by the actions that we do, we cannot say we have Faith in Christ Jesus then our actions towards him are different from what he is expecting of us that will be foolish Faith as James called it.

THE CALL OF ELISHA DEMONSTRATES FAITH;

So Elijah went from there and found Elisha son of Shaphat. He was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen, and he himself was driving the twelfth pair. Elijah went up to him and threw his cloak around him. Elisha then left his oxen and ran after Elijah. “Let me kiss my father and mother goodbye,” he said, “and then I will come with you.”

“Go back,” Elijah replied. “What have I done to you?”

So Elisha left him and went back. He took his yoke of oxen and slaughtered them. He burned the plowing equipment to cook the meat and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he set out to follow Elijah and became his servant. 1Kings19; 19-21

By Faith Elisha abandoned his oxen plough and followed Elijah after his call he would get a greater reward than that of the oxen, and he followed Elijah as his servant waiting patiently for his departure that God would use him in the calling of Elijah

Then Elijah said to him, “Stay here, Elisha; the Lord has sent me to Jericho.”

And he replied, “As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.” So they went to Jericho. 2kings2; 4.

Elisha did not know what he would do but his action of abandoning his oxen plough to follow Elijah for God’s call was great obedience and humility that someone has to get hold of to be successful in serving God.

Imagine upon Elijah’s call, Elisha had to say good bye to his Family and relatives for doing the work of God that demonstrates understanding who had called him, that is authority acknowledgement. Someone from this generation would have abused Elisha to be mad or foolish for the decision taken towards the call Elijah had given him but By Faith Elisha obeyed knowing it was not Elijah who called him but God because he knew Elijah as a prophet, what then it means that Elisha knew he would acquire more in the Kingdom of God than short conform of oxen plough that would later perish and leave with nothing, by Faith Elisha abandoned his work and joined Elijah as a helper but later he became one of the greatest that God has in history upon his obedience.

What am I saying that Faith needs action to justify and it needs great obedience to realize it and that’s how we shall be justified by our Faith in Christ.

So then shall we say all do not have Faith? Of course not, many Christians have misguided Faith that needs to be shaped up basing on the word of God, but of course there are some people who have no Faith at all, and some have doubts and their actions tell that’s why many Christians are looking for miracles and wonders to believe in Jesus Christ.

Many Christians have sought for healing but most of all are in vain and the reason is lack of Faith or mis-guided Faith, and some have a desire for healing and this has led to their disappointment and end up not being healed. But Faith for healing has already been prepared in the wounds of Jesus Christ and by his stripes we are healed, Isaiah53;5 that means he already provided healing for the church and for those who would come to be believe in him, but the person looking for healing should needs only an action to receive that healing and that would justify his Faith towards healing, of course going for prayers without ceasing would justify your Faith for healing, reading the word of God frequently that it sets us free would be another action to justify Faith in God’s word, and also worshiping and praising God in good and bad situations would justify your Faith in God.

There was a woman who did an action by justifying her Faith towards healing in Jesus Christ that you could take as example in your life to believe in God that one God will heal you or answer you according to your patience and generosity.

Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak. She said to herself, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.”

Jesus turned and saw her. “Take heart, daughter,” he said, “your faith has healed you.” And the woman was healed at that moment. Mathew9; 20-22

Imagine the woman was patient with bleeding for 12 years and she went to the doctors but could not help her, but her Faith in Christ Jesus healed her, when she heard that Jesus Christ was healing people she took up Faith and believed in her heart that if only I touch his cloak I will be well. You can see that the bleeding woman had confidence in the heart and then she did an action by TOUCHING the cloak and her action justified what she was feeling in the heart and that really saved her from the bleeding of twelve years, what does that mean, that we have to believe from deepest of our hearts so that we may not lie ourselves that we have Faith. Faith is will always be justified by the actions that we do. So then without any godly deed or work we cannot be justified in deeds, because Demons also believe God’s existence but they are not obedient.

Increasing Faith;

In most cases as Christians we can slip up in Faith due to some disappointment we face in this life so we need to always increase our Faith and this can be done some ways.

By being honest to confess our lack of enough Faith towards God, in this we can ask God to increase our faith towards him instead of pretending to have Faith,

“How long has he been like this?” Jesus asked the father. “Ever since he was a child,” he replied.

“Many times the evil spirit has tried to kill him by throwing him in the fire and into water. Have pity on us and help us, if you possibly can!”

“Yes,” said Jesus, “if you yourself can! Everything is possible for the person who has faith.” The father at once cried out, “I do have faith, but not enough. Help me have more!” Jesus noticed that the crowd was closing in on them, so he gave a command to the evil spirit. “Deaf and dumb spirit,” he said, “I order you to come out of the boy and never go into him again!” Mark9; 21-25.

The Father of the child who was sick was honest with Jesus Christ by asked him to increase his Faith, he did not pretend, so then as Christians we should not pretend before God to Faith In Christ yet we are not, let’s be honest with ourselves and confess for our unbelief before God then he will increase our Faith by the work he will do. And He is Faithful he will do it.

We need to feed on the word of God often so that we may not slip in Faith and also listen to the Word of God to increase our Faith, So Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. Romans10;17

Work in Groups, that is through submission with other Christians who have matured in the Faith and in the Spirit, so then this will help us to resist our attacks in the spiritual realms and avoid slipping up in Faith, modern Christians tend to work independently in their Christianity lives and this has left them uncovered in the spiritual realms against the attacks of the devil, and with time they give up Christianity and continue to live a life of unbelief. So Christians should continue standing in the Faith by submitting to fellow trusted Christians in Christ that God has approved to them this will help them grow maturity in the word, in Faith and in the Spirit.

That is why the bible tells us to submit to one another. But if you want to work independently you will be vulnerable to devil attacks and your salvation walk will be hard for you to mount. The apostles submitting to Jesus Christ and they received Spiritual protection and they also submitted to one another to resist the devil attacks between themselves. Peter and John often moved together to increase their Faith upon succession of God’s work. Acts3;4, Paul, Silas and Barnabas uplifted their Faith moving together by seeing How God used Paul in his Ministry by mighty works. Acts14; 8-11.

Relationship with God the Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit will give us much more Spiritual and physical protection and this will increase our Faith towards God, and by the relationship we have with our fellow Christians it will resist the attacks of the devil. But working independently increases the devil traps of using deception to ruin us by deceiving us and his attacks would affect us and slip away from the Great Faith our Lord Jesus Christ.

So brethren take all obedience and so Live by Faith not by sight knowing that whoever fails to obey the commands of our Lord Jesus Christ stands in the way of damnation and it will be eternal torment, do not deceive yourself by foolish Faith without obedience of God’s word, in that you will know that you are already judged by the word of God upon your death then your works shall go before you and you reap eternal death. We preach Christ Jesus and him crucified, and this is by the demonstration of the Holy Spirit. We are not looking for men’s approval but we seeking God Almighty’s approval because his is permanent and without any doubt.

So what then we fix our eyes on eternal glory considering the current trouble powerless but making the contribution to our great Glory of Eternal Life, the one which the Lord has prepared before existence of this World. And anyone who believes so then he shall by Justified by His Faith in Christ Jesus.

I will stop here brethren but keep standing in the Faith of our Lord Jesus Christ and do not give greater weight of current troubles which are passing away and the world.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your Spirit as we wait for the great day of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Asher Namanya the God’s watch Man and the Lord Jesus Christ.
